This is a list of multiple births, consisting of notable multiple births and pregnancies that were greater than twins and triplets, i.e. quadruplets, quintuplets, sextuplets, septuplets, and higher orders. Although high-order multiple births have always existed, they have become much more common with the use of reproductive technology such as fertility drugs and in vitro fertilization (IVF). As multiple pregnancies are more risky to the babies (as well as the mother), some of the fetuses may die in utero, and so it is not always clear from old news reports exactly how large the set was initially.

In Pennsylvania, on February 29, 1932 Jane, Jean, and Jone Riker were born on leap year. They are the oldest set of living triplets born on leap year to date. Technically they will be turning 80 in 2012.

Quadruplets (4)

• The Keys quadruplets (born June 4, 1915 in Hollis, Oklahoma) were the first same-sex quadruplets known to survive to adulthood. They attended Baylor University on scholarships and graduated in 1937. The last surviving, Roberta Keys Torn, died at 96 years in August 2011. ^[1]

• The Johnson quadruplets (born in 1935 in Dunedin, New Zealand) were the first surviving set of quadruplets in Australasia.^[2]

• The Badgett quadruplets (born February 1, 1939 in Galveston, Texas) were the second surviving set of quadruplets in the United States. The four girls, Geraldine, Joan, Jeanette and Joyce, were minor celebrities in the 1940s and 1950s.^[3]

• The Fultz quadruplets (born May 23, 1946 in Rockingham County, North Carolina) were the first identical African-American quadruplets on record.^[4]

• The Sara quadruplets (born August 17, 1950 in Bellingen, New South Wales) were the first surviving quads in Australia; there were two boys (Mark and Philip) and two girls (Alison and Judith).^[5]

• The Harris quadruplets (born June 30, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois) were the second identical African-American quadruplet girls to survive.^[6]

• The Alexander quadruplets (born September 2, 1967 in Auckland, New Zealand) were the first set of identical quadruplets born in New Zealand.^[7]

• The Hansen quadruplets (born October 24, 1974 in San Antonio, Texas) are Alison, Brooke, Claire, and Darcy. The sisters have appeared on The Tonight Show and other talk shows. They attended Baylor University on academic scholarships and graduated in 1997.^[8]

• The Steeves quadruplets (Carrie Dawn, Jennie Lee, Mary Beth and Patty Ann, born December 17, 1982 in Calgary, Alberta) were the first identical set of quads to be born in Canada.^[9][10]

• The Martin quadruplets (born May 8, 1983 in Victoria, Texas) are Erin, Kelly, Clint and Ashley. They were conceived naturally by Kenneth and Sylvia Martin. They are the first set of quadruplets to graduate from Texas A&M University

• The Tambassis quadruplets (born September 28, 1989 in Sydney, Australia) are Dimitrios (James), Aphroditi (Fiona), Kyriakos (Kurt), and Despina (Debbie). They were conceived naturally by Con and Helen Tambassis.^[11]

• The Furtick quadruplets (born June 21, 1990 in New York City) are Kevin, Jason, Keith, and Victor. Their mother, who did not plan on having another child after the murder of her 17-year-old son in 1989, became pregnant unexpectedly at the age of 39.^[12][13]

• The Boyle quadruplets (born July 4, 1990 in Indianapolis, Indiana) are Douglas, Rebecca, Frances, and Laura. They were featured in the Kodak Photo of the Century in 2000.^[14]

• The Crouch quadruplets (Carol, Kenny, Martina, and Ray) were the first quadruplets accepted to Yale University.^[15]

• The Whitehead quadruplets, Born 4th March 1992.(Laura, Lisa, Hannah and Katie). Were born to Ian and Karen in Orpington Kent.

• The Jackson quadruplets (born in 1992 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana) are Jessica, Mackenzie, Meredith, and Stephanie. Their parents, Stephen and Regina, adopted the four sisters, making them the first identical African-American quadruplets to be adopted in the United States. They are the youngest children in their family as they have two older brothers, Justin and Phillip. They have been on The Bill Cosby Show, the Maury show, The Today Show, NBC, and BET; they have also appeared in a twins/multiples calendar, an issue of JET Magazine and a few commercials. They have been interviewed for the Free-Lance Star, a Roanoke radio station, the Roanoke Times, the Roanoke Star-Sentinnel, and they have recently been interviewed on WDBJ with Keith Humphrey. Recently they auditioned for a role in the Adam Sandler movie Jack&Jill, video can be found on YouTube, but they didn't get the part. Currently they live in Fredericksburg, Virginia and are attending college at Hollins University.^[16]

• The Durst quadruplets (Calli, Kendra, Megan and Sarah) are identical quadruplets born February 10, 1993 in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.^[17]

• The Kranking quadruplets were born January 29, 1994 in Washington, DC to Andy and Mary Kranking. They are 2 boys, Stephen Nicholas and Timothy Andrew and 2 girls, Cara Marie and Emily Lynne.^[18]

• The Coles quadruplets, (born 30th May, 1996 born in Essex, England) are Josh, Jonathan, Adam and Amy.

• The Faid quadruplets, (born October 3, 1996 born in Dunedin, New Zealand) are Luke, Olivia, Grace And Samuel. Very rare to have a set of 2 girls and 2 boys.

• The Aversa quadruplets,(born March 4, 1996 in UK) are Giorgia, Claudia, Chiara and Fabrizia. They are the first set of identical quadruplets born in the UK.

• The Fillippini quadruplets (born February 20, 1997 in Santa Barbara, California) were born to 50-year-old Cheryl Fillippini and 49-year-old Robert Fillippini of Lompoc, after IVF treatment. Three girls and a boy (Rebekah, Amanda, Sydney and Robert) were born two months premature.^[19]

• The Grady quadruplets, Ashley, Lindsey, Kara and Alyssa, (born April 8, 1998 in Iowa City, Iowa) were one of two sets to be delivered at the same hospital in a two-day period. They were born 14 weeks premature and are identical.^[20]

• An ummarried 55-year-old woman gave birth to quadruplets in San Diego on April 18, 1998, after IVF treatment. Three girls and one boy were born at 27 weeks, the smallest of them weighted only 10 oz at birth.^[21]

• The Brino quadruplets (born September 21, 1998 in Woodland Hills, California) played the twins Sam and David Camden on the television series 7th Heaven. When they all started to look different, the only girl, Myrinda, stopped appearing on the show. Only Nikolas and Lorenzo have starred on the show since then.^[22]

• The Mathias quadruplets (born February 16, 2000 in Lexington, South Carolina) are Grace, Emily, Mary Claire and Anna. A home movie of the girls laughing in unison was featured on America's Funniest Home Videos. Their family was awarded over $250,000 as a result.^[23][24]

• The Morris quadruplets (born August 13, 2004 in Glenolden, Pennsylvania) quads are double identical twins, a set of identical boys and a set of identical girls: James Russell, Robert Wayne, Anna Rose and Ella Kathleen. The couple also had a two-year-old son, Sammy, who was one were born to Geana and Kurt Morris. The of a set of triplets at conception (the identical twins did not make it through the 12th week).

• The Geoghegan quadruplets are Aidan, Logan, Connor and Keira (born May 5, 2005 in New York). At birth, the Geoghegan quadruplets had three-year-old twin siblings, Liam and Makayla.

• The Carles quadruplets (born March 2006 in the UK) are Ellie, Holly, Jessica and Georgina. They are the 2nd identical set of quadruplets in Britain.

• The Aberdeen / Edwards quadruplets (born November 7, 2006 in San Juan, Trinidad and Tobago) are four girls, born to Lystra Aberdeen (aged 27), already a mother of one girl (aged 10) and two boys (aged 8 and 4), and common-law husband Anderson Edwards (aged 33). This was the first confirmed case in Trinidad.^[25]

• The Murray quadruplets (born February 2, 2007 in Indiana) are four boys (Henry, Brooks, Clark and Isaac), born to Jen Murray and husband Brad Murray. Quadruplets consisting of 2 identical monoamniotic twins, and 2 fraternal twins.

• The Jepp quadruplets (born August 12, 2007 in Great Falls, Montana) were the first identical set to be born to a Canadian family since 1982. Autumn, Brooke, Calissa and Dahlia were born in the United States, as the hospitals in their hometown of Calgary, Alberta were at full capacity.^[26]

• The spontaneously conceived identical Medders quadruplets (Annika Peace, Berkley Claire, Callie Ranelle and Daley Providence) were born in Fargo, North Dakota on November 4, 2007. Annika and Daley were later discovered to suffer from twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, and then went through surgery to try to correct this problem. The surgery had never been performed in identical quadruplets before. However, due to subsequent complications, Annika died in utero. The remaining three babies were delivered by Caesarian section at 24 weeks and 6 days due to an infection. Daley (weighing 8 ounces at birth) died at birth and Berkley (weighing 1 pound 4 ounces at birth) died 3 days later, leaving Callie (weighing 1 pound at birth) as the sole survivor.^[27]

• The Butko quadruplets were born on November 30, 2007 to Olga Butko of Rivne, Ukraine. Two girls and two boys were weighting from 0.95 to 1.15 kg. Later two of them died.^[28]

• A set of quadruplets were born in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine on December 1, 2007. Three boys and a girl were born healthy and survived.^[28]

• A set of all-girl quadruplets were born naturally in March 2008 in Ternopil, Ukraine.^[28]

Quintuplets (5)

• The Dionne quintuplets (born May 28, 1934 near Corbeil, Ontario, Canada) were the first quintuplets known to survive infancy. The five girls (Yvonne, Annette, Cecile, Emilie and Marie) were also the only set of identical quintuplets known to live into adulthood.^[29]

• The Fischer quintuplets (born September 14, 1963 in Aberdeen, South Dakota) were the first known surviving set of American quintuplets. They consisted of one boy and four girls.^[30] 3 out of 4 girls (Magdalene, Margaret, Catherine) are identical.^[31]

• The Lawson quintuplets (born July 27, 1965 in Auckland, New Zealand) were the first set of surviving quintuplets conceived through the use of fertility medication and are the only known New Zealand quintuplets.^[32] They consist of one male and four females.

• The Hanson quintuplets (born November 13, 1969 in London) were the first set to survive in the United Kingdom, as well as the second surviving set of all female quintuplets after the Dionne quintuplets.^[33]

• The Kienast quintuplets (born February 24, 1970 in Liberty Corners, New Jersey) were the first surviving set of American quintuplets conceived through fertility medication.^[34][35]

• The Rychert quintuplets (born May 15, 1971 in Gdańsk) were the first surviving set born in Poland.^[36]

• The Brunner quintuplets (born June 9, 1978 in Nancy) were the first surviving set born in France. Marc Luc Gilles Maud Anne nicknamed them the "quintuplés Paris Match" in 17 articles written between 1978 to 1984)^[37] For each article, they were clothed by the couturier Pierre Cardin.

• The Ward quintuplets (born June 2, 1980 in England) consisted of four boys and one girl: Lucy, Robert, Stephen, James, and Andrew.^[38]

• The Beach quintuplets (born March 17, 1981 in Rochester, New York). Three boys (Timothy, John, and Patrick) and two girls (Corinne and Deborah) were born to Timothy and Corinne Beach. Timothy died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome at the age of five months.^[39]

• The Granata quintuplets (born June 1, 1981 in Toledo, Ohio) were three boys and two girls conceived through the use of fertility medication and born in the 28th week of pregnancy to George and Janice Granata. They were named (in birth order) Britton, Nathan, Amanda, Heather and Eric. The firstborn, Britton, died of lung failure on June 3, 1981.^[40] In 1983, the surviving four appeared with Oprah Winfrey on her show, People are Talking, along with their mother and older sister, Jenny.^[41] When they were 15 years old, the surviving four appeared on The Jenny Jones Show.

• The Gaither quintuplets (born August 3, 1983 in Indianapolis, Indiana) were the first surviving African-American quintuplets and were one of only three naturally conceived American sets in 1983.^[42][43][44]

• The Helms quintuplets (born March 2, 1987 in Peoria, Illinois) were born to Ron and Roz Helms in 1987. They are four girls (Shannon, Meredith, Bevin, Samantha) and one boy (Benjamin) and were born 11 weeks premature.

• The Al-Ghamdi quintuplets (born February 2, 1988 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) were the first set to be born in Saudi Arabia. Saeed Al-Ghamdi and his wife, Salha, had five boys.^[45]

• The Chandler Quintuplets were born in May 1989. Parents Jeri and Peter have one older son, Zach. The quintuplets (Megan, Josh, Emily, Amanda and Heidi) are all now in college. Following their high school graduation from Peak to Peak High School in Lafayette, Colorado, the family appeared on the Today show. The Chandlers attend five different colleges in five different states.^[46]

• The Laverack Quintuplets, born on September 4, 1992, are three girls and two boys (Cameron, Amanda, Kristelle, Neroli, Andrew) and were born in New South Wales, Australia. "Brisbane Time" ^[47]

• The Morris quintuplets (born July 10 and 13, 1994 in Topeka, Kansas) are four girls and one boy: Mallory Quinn, Jordan Quinn, Evan Quinton, Kasey Quinn and Holly Quinn. The boy died seventeen days after birth. They are the first recorded quintuplets in Kansas. "Chandler quintuplets ready to fly solo" ^[48]

• The Chin quintuplets (born April 1, 1997 in Singapore City, Singapore) were the first quintuplets to be conceived in The KK Hospital for Women and Children. All of the infants survived. They were named Soon-kit (Adriel), Soon-an (André), Li-thing (Alicia), Li-en (Amanda), and Li-quin (Annabelle).^[49]

• The Reyes quintuplets (born September 26, 1997 at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital) were born to Arnold and Lily Reyes. The three boys (Gerard, Gilbert, Garner) and two girls (Adele and Audrey) are raised in Chula Vista, California.

• On February 18, 2000, a set of quintuplets consisting of four girls and a boy was born at the CZMP Health Center in Łódź, Poland. A year later, in February 2001, another set of quintuplets (four boys and a girl), was born at the same hospital.^[50]

• The Mora quintuplets were born at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland to Major League Baseball player Melvin Mora and his wife, Gisel, on July 28, 2001. The babies, three girls and two boys, were named Genesis Raquel, Jada Priscilla, Rebekah Alesha, Christian Emmanuel, and Matthew David.^[51]

• The Cassidy quintuplets were born in Dublin, Ireland on August 16, 2001 to Veronica and Kevin Cassidy of Wexford. The three boys (Conor James, Cian Richard, and Rory Kevin) and two girls (Amy Dorothy and Dearbhail Mary), are the first quintuplets to have been born in Ireland.^[52][53][54]

• The Powell quintuplets (born October 28, 2001) were born to Stephanie and Steve Powell of Louisville, Kentucky at the Norton Women's Pavilion at Norton Suburban Hospital. The babies, three boys (Jacob, Jackson and Samuel) and two girls (Chloe and Ella), were born at 30 weeks, weighing from 2 lbs 5 oz to 2 lbs 12.4 oz.^[55]

• The Wainscott quintuplets were born at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington to Monica and Milton Wainscott of Frankfort. The first of them, a girl named Bailey was born on November 16. The rest, two girls (Avery and Shelby) and two boys (William Garrett and Lucas), were born on November 30. The couple already had a 10-year-old son, Cody, and had been trying to have a baby for eight years.^[56]

• In November, 2002 the Loughran quintuplets were born in Belfast, consisting of two sets of identical twins (Aaron and Conan; Alana and Aine) and a fraternal girl, Caitlin.^[57]

• A set of quintuplets was born in Kraków, Poland on June 28, 2003. The three girls and two boys were born during the 25th week of pregnancy at the Neonatology Clinic of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum. One of the girls did not survive.^[50]

• The Denny quintuplets were born to Steven and Lyndsey Denny of Bakersfield, California on October 17, 2003. The children are called Julian Matthew, Jilliana Hattie, Anthony Frank, Joshua Stanley, and Alexis Diana Denny.^[58]

• The Moreno-Gonzalez quintuplets (born April 26, 2005 at a Phoenix hospital), all boys, were born by a surrogate mother, 25-year-old Teresa Anderson, at 33 weeks. The biological parents, Luisa Gonzalez and her husband Enrique Moreno, had chosen their names weeks ago: Enrique, Jorge, Gabriel, Javier and Victor. After learning she was carrying quintuplets, Anderson decided not to accept money from the couple (a landscaper and a homemaker) because she realized they would need it to raise their unexpectedly outsize family.^[59]

• The Brooks quintuplets were born to Kate and David Brooks on October 10, 2006 in Kansas City, Missouri. There are three girls (Ruth Elizabeth, Helen Marie and Emily Jayne) and two boys (Owen David and Jesse William) in the set.^[60]

• The Ziemliński quintuplets, three boys and two girls, were born in Poznań, Poland on November 2, 2006.^[61]

• The Ferrill quintuplets were born at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on December 21, 2006 to Jenny and Pete Ferrill of Danville, Illinois. The Ferrills, both of whom work in social services, suffered two miscarriages before utilizing fertility medication that resulted in quintuplets. The three boys (Landyn Konner, Layne Mykel and Drayden Karter) and two girls (Irelyn Kadyn and Kieran Skye), nicknamed the "Ferrill Five," were born at 31 weeks and were the subject of a documentary on TLC titled Quint-Essential that aired in late 2007.^[62][63]

• The Wright quintuplets (Payton, Landon, Ethan, Jenna, and Sydney) were born on February 15, 2007 in Evansville, Indiana. The parents of the three boys and two girls, Rob and Emily Wright, live in Princeton.^[64]

• The Wilkinson quintuplets (born July 31, 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona) were born to Jayson and Rachelle Wilkinson of Cedar Park, Texas. The quintuplets, three girls (Kassidy, Kaydence, and Kyndall) and two boys (Rustin and Ryder) currently hold the record for the highest combined birthweight of a set of quintuplets at 21 lb (9.52 kg).^[65] In 2010, the family starred in a short HBO docu-series, "Texas Quints".

• The Pierantoni quintuplets, two boys (Filippo and Tommaso) and three girls (Camilla, Carlotta and Giorgia), were born on October 31, 2007 in Ancona, Italy to Sara and Adelmo Pierantoni.^[66]

• The Artamkin quintuplets, consisting of five girls (Elizaveta, Alexandra, Nadezhda, Tatiana and Varvara), were born on November 10, 2007 to Russian parents at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, England.^[67]

• A set of quintuplets consisting of five girls (Julia, Maja, Karolina, Natalia and Oliwia) were born prematurely in the 26th week of pregnancy at the Neonatology Clinic of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum to Paulina and Piotr Szymkiewicz in Kraków, Poland in April 2008.^[68][69]

• The Phillips quintuplets, two boys (John Daniel and David James) and three girls (Rebecca Jenne, Alison Marie and Katelyn Elizabeth), were born on October 25, 2008 in Houston, Texas to Bill and Kelly Phillips.

• Quintuplets were born at the Anne Arundel Medical Center on December 2, 2008.^[70]

• The Ferrante quintuplets were born in Staten Island, New York on December 27, 2008. The quintuplets are Alessia Louise, Amanda Frances, Emily Ann, Matthew Sabatino, and Ella Lilliana. They weighed between 1 lb 8oz and 2 lbs 4.5 oz.

• On January 16, 2009 Casey and Ethan Jones of Texas had four girls (Brooklyn Faith, Britton Grace, Lila Addison and Ryan Elizabeth) and one boy (Jack William). They have an older sister, Eliot McKenna. They were documented on the TLC show [Quints by Surprise].

• The Maskell-Mistalski quintuplets were born in Buffalo, New York on October 1, 2009. There were three girls (Kayla Lizabeth, Anna Belle Americus and Ramona Wednesday), and two boys (Justin Michael and Tyler Jackson). Kayla died on October 17, 2009. Their mother, Bridget Maskell, also has twins, Aimee Jo and Brandon, from a previous marriage.^[71]

• The Real-Mayorga quintuplets were born on July 31, 2010 in Houston, Texas. There are three boys (Aaron, Joel and Issac) and two girls (Priscilla Sofia and Matilde). Enrique Real-Mayorga and Veronica Real-Mayorga also have an eight-year-old son, Fernando.^[72]

• The Spicocchi quintuplets were born August 3, 2010 at 24 weeks 3 days in Akron Children's Hospital. Ilah, Paige, Enzo, Ellie and Gia are 2 older siblings ^[73]

• The Clark-Kessinger quintuplets were born on August 9, 2010 in Louisville, Kentucky. There are four girls (Maggie Mae, Hartley Grace, Allie Joy, and Ella Lynn) and one boy (Easton Avery).They have three more children, Ty, Tayleigh and Tanner, who has Down's Syndrome.^[74]

• The Glass quints were born August 27, 2010 at 33 weeks.^[75]

• The Keevers-Nolan quintuplets were born on the 3rd of January, 2011 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The two boys (Noah and Charlie) and three girls (Eireann, Evie and Abby) were born at 26 weeks gestation. Their parents Rosemary Nolan and Melissa Keevers (who are a same-sex couple) already have a daughter Lily who was 18 months old at the time of the birth.^[76]

• The Ayelabola quintuplets were born on 28th April 2011 in London. Two boys and three girls were born. There is controversy surrounding the quintuplets births as the mother travelled to England to have her children under an expired visa. ^[77]

Sextuplets (6)

• The Thorns sextuplets (born October 2, 1968 in Birmingham, England) were born to Barry and Sheila Thorns. They were the first sextuplets known to have been born alive in the United Kingdom, but one baby died shortly after birth, and another two died within the next two weeks.^{[78][79][80][81]}

• The Rosenkowitz sextuplets (born January 11, 1974 in Cape Town, South Africa) were the first sextuplets known to survive their infancy.^[82]

• The Nijssen sextuplets (born September 21, 1977 in the Netherlands) were born to Corry and Sien Nijssen two months prematurely. There were 4 girls (Patricia, Priscilla, Mirella and Ramona) and 2 boys (Ivo and Denis). Denis died on November 9, 1977.^[83]

• The Giannini sextuplets (born on January 11, 1980 in Italy) were the second sextuplets known to survive their infancy. They were born on the same date as the Rosenkowitz twins, six years later.^[84]

• The Vanhove Gadeyne sextuplets (born on August 17, 1983 in Blankenberge, Flanders) are the only set of sextuplets to have been born in Belgium. They are 5 boys (Bruno, Jelle, Tom, Lode, Arne) and one girl (Veerle), and they weighed between 2 lbs 9oz and 3 lbs 3oz.^[85]

• The Walton sextuplets (born on November 18, 1983 in Liverpool) were the first sextuplets born in the United Kingdom known to survive their infancy, and the world's first all-female sextuplets.^[86]

• The Coleman sextuplets (born on November 12, 1986 in England) are three boys (Gary, Stuart, James) and three girls (Jayne, Hannah, Nichola).^[87]

• The Adam sextuplets were born on January 14, 1989 in France to Daniel and Marie Claude Adam (living in Seine Maritime, Normandy). In 1987, Marie Claude had gotten pregnant with twins but lost them. Six months later, Marie Claude became pregnant with ten embryos, and her doctor performed an embryo reduction, leaving six embryos.^[88] Cédric, Gaëlle, Coralie, Doriane, Kevin and Mélanie were born at 32.5 weeks gestation weighing between 1320 grams and 1490 grams.

• The Dilley sextuplets (born on May 25, 1993 in Indianapolis) were the first surviving set of sextuplets in the United States. They are two girls (Brenna Rose and Claire Diane) and four boys (Julian Emerson, Quinn Everett, Ian Michael, and Adrian Reed).^[89]

• The Mooser sextuplets were born on March 24, 1986 in Munich, Germany to Anne Marie and Martin Mooser. One girl was born vaginally after Anne Marie's water broke; the others were born by Cesarean section. Only seven hours after the delivery, the young mother died of a pulmonary embolism, and a boy, Stefan, died three weeks later. Robert, Matthias, Monika, Martina, and Brigitte survive.

• The Vince sextuplets (born May 19, 1993 in Leeds) were the third set born in England. The five girls (Rebecca, Katie, Stephanie, Jessica, Valerie) and one boy (Gregory) weighed between 2 lbs 4.5oz and 3 lbs 1.5 oz.^[90]

• The Boniello sextuplets (born March 24, 1997 in Stony Brook, New York) set a record for the longest gestation of a sextuplet pregnancy in the United States at 29 weeks and one day. They had a younger sister Nadia.^[91] This record was broken almost two months later by the Thompson sextuplets.

• The Thompson sextuplets (born June 2, 1997 in Washington, D.C.) were born to Jacqueline and Linden Thompson. Mrs. Thompson set the record for the longest sextuplet pregnancy at 29 weeks and six days. One of the children, a daughter, was stillborn. The five survivors are four girls (Octavia Daniela, Stella Kimberly, Ann Marie Amanda, and Emily Elizabeth) and one boy (Richard Linden). They are the first African-American sextuplets. They each weighed between 2 lbs 2oz and 2 lbs 6oz.^[92]

• The Headrick sextuplets (born April 6, 2002 in Wichita, Kansas) were the first set of sextuplets born in Kansas. The births increased the population of the Headrick's hometown of Rago, Kansas, from 12 to 18. The sextuplets comprise three boys (Ethan Roy, Grant Dougles and Sean Edward) and three girls (Melissa Sue, Jaycie Linette and Danielle Patrice). They had an older sister Aubrianna Lynn.^[93]

• The Harris sextuplets (born July 7, 2002 in Alabama) are two girls (Kiera Christine and Kalynne Antoinett) and four boys (Kaleb Reddrick, Kobe Byshari, Kieran Anthony and Kyle Jacob). They are Alabama's first set of sextuplets, and were the first recorded set of surviving African-American sextuplets.^[94] Kaleb has nerve damage; while Kiera and Kyle are autistic.^[95] The Harris family received a new home in a 2005 episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The Harris' original three-bedroom, three-bath house was razed and a two story, 5,000-square-foot (460 m²) home was built. The show added features like a commercial stove with six eyes; three refrigerators in the kitchen; a train track upstairs that travels through the sextuplets' rooms, a part of the hallway and through a secret passage by a set of stairs; an outdoor dining area; a tree house and a water park in the back yard.^[96][97]

• The Perry sextuplets (born March 19, 2004 in Pennsylvania) were born to Erin and Joe Perry. Three boys and three girls (Ian, Simon, Joshua, Olivia, Zoe and Madison) were born at 28 weeks and weighted between 1 lb. 11 oz. and 2 lb. 9 oz. They had an older brother Parker.^[98]

• The Van Houten sextuplets (born January 7, 16 and 17, 2004) are Michigan's first sextuplets. Born between 23 and 25 weeks gestation to Ben and Amy Van Houten, they are John, Gerrit, Samantha, Nolan, Peyton and Kennedy. They have an younger sister Drew.^[99]

• The Hanselman sextuplets (born February 26, 2004 in Akron, Ohio) are the first sextuplets to have been born in Ohio. They are three girls (Isabella Jean, Sophia Ivy and Lucy Arlene) and three boys (Kyle Allen, Logan James and Alex Edwin). They also have an older brother, Connor.^[100]

• The Otten sextuplets (born April 9, 2004 in Missouri) were born to Tina and Ron Otten of Illinois. There are three boys (Jacob, Joshua and Tyler) and three girls (Madison, Isabella, Rileigh). They also have two older sisters, Hannah and Abigail.^[101]

• The Gosselin sextuplets (born May 10, 2004 in Hershey, Pennsylvania) were born just shy of 30 weeks gestation to parents Jon and Kate Gosselin. The set has three girls (Alexis Faith, Hannah Joy, and Leah Hope) and three boys (Aaden Jonathan, Collin Thomas, Joel Kevin).The parents also have twin girls, Madelyn Kate and Cara Nicole, who were three years old at the time of the sextuplets' birth.^[102][103] The family was the subject of a reality television show, originally titled Jon & Kate Plus 8, that aired on TLC in the United States and Canada. The show was initially canceled after Jon and Kate's divorce, but was revived as Kate Plus 8 after viewer complaints. The series permanently ended in 2011, with the last episode airing on September 12 of that year.

• The Hayes sextuplets (born September 14, 2004 in Long Branch, New Jersey) are the first surviving sextuplets to be born in New Jersey. The six children—three boys (Ryan Peter, Connor James, Eric John) and three girls (Tara Rose, Rachel Ann, Rebecca Mary)—weighed a total of 24 lbs. and 14 oz., setting a world record for the heaviest set of sextuplets. The Hayeses also have two sets of twins, Kevin and Kyle (eight years old at the time of the setuplets' birth) and Kieran and Meghan (five years old). They are the only family in the United States to have two sets of twins and a set of sextuplets.^[104] The family were the subject of a reality television show, Table for 12, on TLC in the U.S.^[105]

• Canada's first sextuplets (born January 6 and 7, 2007 in Vancouver) were born at 25 weeks gestation. The parents, who wanted to remain anonymous, are Jehovah's Witnesses and refused the critical blood transfusions necessary to save the babies. Two of the babies died shortly after being born, and the rest were seized by the Ministry of Children. The babies were later returned to the parents. As of January 23, 2007, four of the six babies survive.^[106][107]

• The Morrison sextuplets (born June 10, 2007 in Minneapolis) were born to Ryan and Brianna Morrison. They were born at 22 weeks and 6 days gestation and weighed between 11 oz. and 1 lb. 3 oz. Three of them died within three days: Bennet Ryan (d. June 13), Tryg Brenton (June 14), and Lincoln Sean (June 15). Cadence Alana died at two weeks and Lucia Rae died on July 22 at 1½ month. Only Sylas Christopher survives. They had a younger sister Ivy, and a younger brother August.^{[108][109][110]}

• The Masche sextuplets (born June 11, 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona) were born to Bryan and Jenny Masche 10 hours after the Morrison sextuplets. Savannah Jane, Bailey Elizabeth, Grant William, Cole Robert, Molli Grace and Blake Nicholas were born at 30 weeks gestation.^[111]

• The Byler sextuplets (born September 1, 2007 in St. Petersburg, Florida) are Florida's first sextuplets. Conceived with the aid of fertility drugs, there are five boys (Brady Christopher, Eli Benjamin, Ryan Patrick, Jackson Robert, and Charlie Craig) and one girl (MacKenzie Margaret). They had an older sister Zoe.^[112]

• The Soldani sexuplets (born September 12, 2007 in San Jose, California), three boys and three girls, were born to Gracie and Brian Soldani at 29 weeks. Three of them (Joely, Bailey and Briana) were stillborn, the other three (Bruno, Santino and Lucia) survived.^[113]

• The Carpio sextuplets (born October 6, 2008 in the New York City borough of Queens) are the first Hispanic sextuplets to be born in America. It is not known if their parents, Victor and Digna Carpio, conceived using fertility treatments. The babies (Justin, Jadon, Jezreel, Danelia, Genesis and Joel) were delivered by Cesarean section during the 25th week of pregnancy.^[114]

• The Conway sextuplets (born May 22, 2009 by in Belfast, Northern Ireland) were born to Nuala and Austin Conway from the Dunamore area of County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. The four girls (Ursula, Shannon, Karla, and Kerrie) and two boys (Austin and Eoghan), weighed between 1 lb. 7 oz. and 2 lb. 2 oz. and were 14 weeks premature. Kerrie Mae died 60 days after birth.^[115][116]

• The Stansel sextuplets (born August 4, 2009 in Houston) were born to Thomas and Amanda Stansel, 22 weeks 6 days into pregnancy. The four girls (Ashlyn Louise, Haley Karin, Kaitlyn Amanda and Rachel Diane) and two boys (Braden Thomas and Dallin Cory) weighed from 12 oz. to more than 1 lb. Braden, Dallin, and Kaitlyn died in 13 days, and Ashlyn (12.3 oz) died on October 11, 2009.^[117] Rachel (1 lb 1.2oz; 11 inches) and Haley (1 lb 1.03oz; 10¾ inches) survived.^[118] They were preceded in death of their twin brothers Brendan and Brian, and they had a younger sister Kayla.

• The Mele-Oliva sextuplets (born January 10, 2010 in Naples, Italy) were born to Pino Mele and Carmela Oliva. The four girls (Francesca, Angelica, Annachiara and Serena) and two boys (Paolo and Maurizio) were born at 27 weeks gestation and weighed between 1 lbs. 6 oz. to 1 lbs 12 oz.^[119]

• The Lamb sextuplets (born May 14, 2010 in Oxford, England) were born to Andy and Vicky Lamb, 26 weeks into the pregnancy. The four girls (Layla Pauline, Pippa Willow, Ellen Diana and Rose Annabel) and two boys (Eric Andrew and Matthew Dennis) weighed between 1 lb. 5 oz to 1 lb 14 oz. The fourth born sextuplet, son Matthew Dennis, died four days after birth. Pippa, the smallest, succumbed in July to necrotizing enterocolitis.^[120] Vicky and Andy also have a daughter, Grace, who was five years old at the birth of the sextuplets.^[121]

• The Carey sextuplets (born June 1, 2011 in Abington, Pennsylvania) were born to Stacey and Brendan Carey. The three girls are Emma, Samantha and Olivia, and three boys are John, Patrick and Connor. They have an older sister named Julianna.

• The Carroll sextuplets (born June 18, 2011) in Birmingham, Alabama were born to Heather and Mitchell Carroll. The five girls were Abbie Ruth, Sarah Brooklyn, Chloe Denise, Ellie Mackenzie, and Lillian Faith, and one boy was David Randall. They have an older brother Grant.

Septuplets (7)

• The Frustaci septuplets (born May 21, 1985 in Orange, California) were the first septuplets to be born in the United States. Born at 28 weeks, only three of the seven survived, two boys and a girl, with one daughter being stillborn and three dying within 19 days of birth.^[122]

• The McCaughey septuplets (born November 19, 1997 in Des Moines, Iowa) were the world's first surviving set of septuplets. The four boys (Kenneth Jr., Brandon, Nathan and Joel) and three girls (Alexis, Natalie and Kelsey) were born at 31 weeks, weighing between 2 lbs. 5 oz. and 3 lbs 4 oz.^{[123][124][125]}

• The Humair septuplets (born January 14, 1998 in Abha, Saudi Arabia) were the world's second surviving set of septuplets. They were born at 32 weeks to a 40-year-old mother, Hasna Mohammed Humair, and her husband, Abdullah Mohammed Ali. They had been told to expect four babies.^{[126][127][128]}

• The Qahtani septuplets (born July 12, 2001 in Washington, D.C.) were delivered by Dr. Mutahar Fauzia and are the fourth set of septuplets to live past infancy.^{[129][130][131]} In December 2001, it was reported that one of the septuplets had died of liver failure and three were still hospitalized.^[132]

• A set of septuplets were born on April 18, 2007 in a suburb of Algiers, Algeria to Farhat and Souhila Touile. One of the babies, a boy, was stillborn; the remaining six are girls.^{[133][134][135]}

• The Khamis septuplets (born August 16, 2008 in Alexandria, Egypt) were born to 27-year-old Ghazala Khamis. They were the fifth set of septuplets to all survive. The newborns, four boys and three girls, had been placed in incubators in four different hospitals since they were premature. The babies' weights ranged from 1.45 to 2.8 kilograms (3.2 to 6.2 lb). The mother took fertility drugs in order to produce a son, since she already had three daughters.^[136][137]

• The McGhee septuplets (born June 9, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio) were born to Rozonno and Mia McGhee, 27 weeks into the pregnancy. One of the children, a girl, was stillborn. The other two girls (Olivia and Madison) and the four boys (Rozonno Jr., Elijah, Isaac and Josiah) weighed between 1.5 lb. to a fraction over 2 lbs.^[138][139]

Octuplets (8)

• The first confirmed birth of octuplets occurred on March 10, 1967 in Mexico City, Mexico to Maria Teresa López de Sepulveda. All of the babies—four boys and four girls—died within 13 hours of birth.^{[140][141][142]}

• The Chianese octuplets (born August 16, 1979 in Naples, Italy) were born to Pasqualina and Stefano Chianese. Six of the babies died and two survived. The couple had previously lost a set of sextuplets in 1976.^{[143][144][145][146][147]}

• A set of octuplets were born on December 20, 1985 to Sevil Capan of İzmir, Turkey. Born prematurely at 28 weeks, six of the octuplets died within 12 hours of birth, and the remaining two died within three days.^[128][148]

• A set of octuplets were born between September 30 and October 2, 1996 in a hospital in South London, United Kingdom to Mandy Allwood of Solihull. Allwood was only 19 weeks pregnant when she went into pre-term labor with her six boys (Adam, Cassius, Donald, Kypros, Martyn, and Nelson) and two girls (Layne and Kitali). None of her octuplets survived.^[149] She had refused selective reduction and her case provoked a media storm in the UK.

• A set of octuplets were born on December 5, 1996 in Huelva, Spain to Rosario Clavijo. Two of them were stillborn and six survived.^[128][150]

• The Chukwu octuplets were born in December 1998 in Houston, Texas, United States. The smallest of the octuplets, Odera, died a week after birth. They are the first octuplets known to survive their infancy.^[151]

• A set of octuplets were born between September 13 and September 16, 2000 in Milan, Italy to Mariella Mazzara and Giovanni Pierrera of Trapani. One died immediately after birth, two within a few days of birth, and the oldest, Margherita, died a month later on October 10.^[152][153]

• On January 26, 2009, the Suleman octuplets were born in Bellflower, California, United States.^[154][155] One week after birth, the Suleman octuplets became the longest-living octuplets in known history.^[156] The children's names are Noah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Nariyah, Makai, Josiah, Jeremiah and Jonah. They were conceived through IVF. They have six older siblings, including a set of fraternal twins. They are the second octuplets known to survive their infancy.

Nonuplets (9)

• A set of nonuplets was born on June 13, 1971 in Sydney, Australia to Geraldine Brodrick. None of the five boys and four girls lived. Two were stillborn and the last to survive died six days after birth.^{[157][158][159]}

• A set of nonuplets were born on March 26, 1999 in Malaysia to Zurina Mat Saad. She had five boys and four girls (Adam, Nuh, Idris, Soleh, Hud, Aishah, Khadijah, Fatimah and Umi Kalsom) but none of them survived more than six hours.^[160]
